💡 The First Web3 Native Operating System
User experience has long been one of the biggest (if not the single biggest) hurdles for crypto and NFT adoption.
Wallet addresses are 42 characters long and in hexadecimal code.
Hacks and exploits happen on an almost daily basis.
It takes research and due diligence to uncover bridges, marketplaces, and general apps across different chains (and there is more building on more chains now than ever).
The ecosystem is effectively hard to use, dangerous and very fragmented.
Well, DreamOS is looking to change that with a revolutionary new product.
Yesterday they introduced the first web3 Native Operating System "DreamOS."
If it's as good as advertised - web3 will never be the same.
The Details
The core idea of DreamOS is to build a consumer layer on top of the crypto and blockchain-based application layer.
That consumer layer will feature DApps (decentralized apps), which users will launch to execute their daily activities.
The key components of DreamOS:
DreamOS: A web3 native operating system that surfaces DApps in a standard interface (i.e. Apple's MacOS or Microsoft Windows)
The Dream Store: The app store for crypto apps (or DApps), which surfaces applications across ecosystems without fear of malicious URLs
Omnichain Wallet Interface: A dashboard/frontend that allows users to easily operate across chain (i.e. swapping currencies, bridging, etc.)
DreamID: The ENS of DreamOS, this is Dream's cross-chain naming service that will help facilitate cross-chain activity and also aggregate Web2/Web3 social feeds
File Explorer Interface: A new frontend view of a user's crypto assets (i.e. NFTs) in a more "file explorer" style view, also enabling send functionality
It's a literal one-stop-shop for all your web3 needs.
And the demo is quite slick.
If DreamOS actually operates like this, it will be a 0 to 1 moment for crypto UX.
"What would you do if your desktop was your wallet?"
The Risks
That leading question from the DreamOS announcement video actually highlights the primary risk.
What are the risks if your desktop is your wallet?
For one, having all of one's crypto apps connected in one central operating system makes it much easier for malicious actors to access all of one's digital assets.
Any connected app would be exposed to a new attack vector for anyone who has access to your DreamOS.
Leaving one's laptop alone will be a major no-no. And hackers will likely find ways (phishing scams) to virtually take over users' computers to access DreamOS.
The other risk is lack of adoption, as most users may choose to continue operating in the major tech operating systems (MacOS, Windows, ChromeOS).
But those risks don't make this product any less revolutionary.
Why It Matters
This may be the single most important product I've covered in my year of writing daily web3 newsletters.
It solves almost all of crypto's UX issues.
DreamOS puts all of your favorite and most-used apps front and center on your homescreen. It surfaces trusted apps that you didn't know you needed via Dream Store. It helps bring us to a chain-agnostic ecosystem with the omnichain wallet.
And that doesn't even get into the Dream ID or File Explorer which will also be great additions to usability.
It's early, the interface needs to be tested, risks vetted and infrastructure built - but I'm damn excited.
If the Dream team (pun intended) can pull this off, web3 will literally never be the same. And we may finally be ready to open the onboarding doors to the masses.

Another quiet day in FT ahead of today's points airdrop.
The primary story - buyers outpaced sellers $845k to $455k, leading to more green for those who've stuck around.
Now all eyes turn to how Racer and team will choose to reward those who didn't panic sell in tonight's points drop (if they will at all).
In other SocialFI news:
StarsArena made 2 big announcements on the day, that over 400 people had applied to their ambassador program and that the team was in early stages of fundraise talks; the market didn't like the news, with TVL falling from $1.26M to $680k on the day (-44%)
New Bitcoin City TVL appeared to hold steady at $3.1M
Tomo TVL dipped 10% to $1.12M
TurnUp saw a spike in its top keys after its first day of public launch
Now we wait and see how the FT airdrop impacts the broader SocialFI market this weekend, and which competitors can start to gain traction.
