🖼 Art Market Catch Up
Crypto and PFPs have led the headlines this past week, but there has been some big action in the digital art market as well.
A few storylines to catch you up:
SuperRare and Pindar Van Arman Launch Innovative New Drop
Pindar will debut "The First Sparks of Articifical Creativity" today using a new minting mechanic called lazy minting on SuperRare.
The drop will include 128 unique pieces (1/1/128) priced at 1 ETH each, sold first-come-first-serve.
Each is linked to a physical painting from 2018, with an AI-enhanced digital version of the original. The digital version will include the certificate of authenticity for the original in its metadata.
To incentivize market action, Pindar is offering the first 50 collectors who buy and list/sell their piece on SuperRare (>=1 ETH) a free signed physical print.
Any pieces not sold after 1 week will be locked in Pindar's collection for 5 years.
Refik Anadol Drama
It turns out, not everyone is a fan of Refik's work.
Yesterday, art critic Jerry Saltz commented on X regarding Refik's Metamorphosis AI Data Sculpture piece:
"Refik Anadol’s mind-numbing multi-million dollar spectacle is a house of cards and hall of mirrors. Momentary diverting gimmick art. Take away the music and it’s just a banal screensaver. "
Refik clapped back "ChatGPT writes better than you, Jerry! Time to grow, time to find new “vocabulary.”
Refik added some additional commentary on his X page as well.
Then Beeple got in on the mix, dropping an Everyday "REFIK VS. JERRY."
While many defended Refik, many also praised Jerry for his criticism and noted that it elevates Refik's work - critics aren't commenting on art that isn't in the spotlight.
Muraqqa Delights
Another AI artist in Orkhan has found success in the market this week with "Muraqqa: Data Miniatures."
Per the project description, it "serves as a guide to the future, where history is not abandoned, but reenvisioned and given new life on displays, animated by the rhythms of silicon and code."
The market liked these, jumping 10x from the 0.5 ETH mint to a 5 ETH floor.
But wait, there's more.
On Nov 18th, the 2nd complimentary piece "Muraqqa: Neural Impressions" will be claimable for holders.
Reveal date for both pieces is still to come.
🎁 Airdrop SZN Rages On
Everyone's been following $MEME and $BLUR, but there are more tokens coming.
A few somewhat sneaky upcoming ones:
NFT Inspect's $INSP
Jupiter's $JUP
To participate in the NFT Inspect token drop, it seems the baseline is just to connect one's Twitter and wallet.
It's low effort, and low risk - likely worth the few minutes.
As for Jupiter, the first phase is closed and is based on historical activity as of Nov 2.
It looks like the 10B token airdrop will be based on volume traded on the platform (Jupiter is the Uniswap of Solana).
According to info shared yesterday, token allocations could look like the below:
Tier 1: Top 2K users, 100,000 tokens each (est >1M trading vol)
Tier 2: Next 10K users, 20,000 tokens each (est > 100K trading vol,
Tier 3: Next 50K users, 3000 tokens each (est > 10K trading vol)
Tier 4: Next 150K users, 1000 tokens each (est >1K trading vol)
While this one is behind us, it provides insight into how future airdrops may be structured.
The other lesson here - there are big farming opportunities on Solana right now.
👥 Friend Tech Trend Tracker
The bleeding in the FriendTech market continued, but CBB is trying to save the day with a very interesting new launch.
Here are some of the core Friend Tech metrics for 11/15 and their day-over-day change:
Return users: 2,028 -> 2,190 (+8%)
Daily Buy volume: $0.366M -> $0.567M (+55%)
Total Volume: $1.3M -> $1.32M (+2%)
TVL: $44.6M -> $45.7M (+2.4%)
Highest key: CBB 6.24 -> 6.2 (-1%)
*TVL in ETH terms 22,108 -> 22,232 ETH (+1%)
So buy action jumped quite a bit, but sellers still outweighed them, leading to more red - for everyone but CBB Bull it seemed.
The major news - CBB announced the launch of his $CBP token, coming at 2 pm ET today.
The TLDR:
Each token represents claim to 1 of his FT airdrop points
Claim will happen at end of airdrop window
50k tokens launching at $1
$CBP can be earned by holding 2 or more CBB Bull keys (25-160/week pending how many held)
So in theory, we'll see our first view of how the market values the FT points tomorrow at 2 pm ET.
The market liked the news with respect to CBB Bull, who pumped to a 3.08 ETH floor.
The bigger impact - if $CBP gets to an attractive number, it may lead some Blur farmers to rotate next week.
Perhaps all part of CBB's master plan.
We shall see how this plays out, but it's likely the biggest story in SocialFI to watch over the coming days.
