📝 A Big Stretch of Upcoming Mints
September may have been off to a slow start so far, but that's about to change.
The second half of this month features some of the biggest drops of the quarter, and maybe the year.
Giancarlo (author of Mint or Skip) put together an eye-popping list of the biggest NFT mints upcoming for September.
Here's are the 5 I'm primarily watching:
9/11: A Daydream for Libby
9/12: Distance by Mapan
9/13: Sugartown Oras
9/18: Hashmarks by DeafBeef
9/26: FewoWorld
The drops are heavily concentrated in art, with a small dose of gaming and PFPs.
Now a little about each one.
9/11: A Daydream for Libby
Adam Genlight and gmDAO are back for a highly anticipated 2nd drop from the "A Fundamental Dispute" artist.
A Fundamental Dispute debuted as a darling of the art market, soaring past a 2 ETH floor in its first few days of trading (though it has since retraced to 0.25 ETH, as many have in this market).
Now Adam returns with his distinctive styler for "A Daydream for Libby" which he describes as "A generative fairy tale book made with love and code."
The outputs feature 4 compositions, from traditional storybook, to Flowbook and flow fields, to a Tinyworld format.
Beyond that, the pieces are interactive and effectively become storybooks as the holder engages - something we haven't really seen before.
While it can be rare for an artist's second set to surpass the genesis* - this one feels like it has a shot. Adam has been working on this set for years, and the effort shows in the sample outputs.
With 548 supply and a 0.15 ETH mint price for gmDAO holders, it's doubtful this one gets to the public sale - but if it does, expect a gas war.
*Folded Faces is technically Adam’s genesis set, though there is some debate as the artist calls it his proof of concept
9/12: Distance by Mapan
William Mapan is quickly establishing himself as a top-tier generative artist.
"Anti-Cyclone" is holding at 5.4 ETH floor, enough for 8th place in the Art Blocks Curated rankings. His "Strands of Solitude" drop from March quickly ran to a similar 6 ETH floor, though has since trailed off.
So hopes will be high for "Distance," dropping with Cactoid Labs and LACMA as Volume 5 of the Remembrance of Things Future initiative.
With just 250 in supply, this will be one of his smaller drops.

9/13: Sugartown Oras
Arguably the most hyped mint from this list in most trading circles is Sugartown Oras.
Why?
Sugartown represents Zynga's first entry into web3 gaming. Anytime a major player enters, we pay attention.
Oras will be the genesis mint, so provenance.
And oh, and it's free (for those on the allowlist).
Given the cheap entry, this one seems to be a lock for top ROI for those able to mint.
The team recently shared their plans for expansion beyond the initial mint and how they plan to use their reserved NFTs in their "Jpeganomics" - worth a read for anyone planning to participate.
Get more background with our coverage ahead of the mint next week.
9/18: Hashmarks by DeafBeef
While this one seems to be flying under the radar for now - it likely won't for long.
DeafBeef is an OG artist in the space, who's generative audio-visual works including Series 0 - Synth Poems commanded outrageous prices in the 2021 bull market (I believe KeyBoardMonkey sold a full set for ~2,000 ETH in peak mania).
That project still holds a 25 ETH floor to this day, making it one of the most expensive out there behind projects like Fidenzas, Ringers, Twin Flames and maybe a few more.
Beyond DeafBeef's history, this drop has some very cool features and mechanics.
From our announcement post:
What: 100 unique hand-forged iron sculptures will be tied to unique NFTs
How: The digital SVG image linked to each NFT will begin to fade over a 10-year period unless maintained by engraved secret keys
Where: An exclusive gathering for collectors in Patagonia from Nov 6-8, presented in partnership with Bright Moments
When: Auction for event tickets takes place Sept. 18-20
Physical meets digital, in one of the most gorgeous settings in the world - what more could you ask for in an NFT drop?
9/26: FewoWorld
Perhaps the most anticipated mint on this list (and maybe controversial) is FewoWorld.
Paint holders have been waiting for this one for over a year (Paint minted in Apr 2022), so they will be ready.
Fewo went quiet for a stretch after some allegations surfaced, but nothing more has come from that and it seems he is ready to move forward with the drop.
Fewoworld will feature 20,000 PFPs called Fewos, who will be the main characters in this world.
A few key details to note, from our announcement post:
Each Fewo comes with its unique DNA and characteristics and comes in one of three species (Frankenstein, Misunderstood, Humanoid)
Fewos can be acquired through three different channels - as a Paint Drop holder (free mint), as a FEWOCiOUS art holder (at a discounted price), or through a public sale
All Fewos come with an individual ERC-6551 “backpack” wallet
Even though the PFP market is fairly dead, and especially tough to break into for newcomers - this one feels like an exception.
Expectations are certainly high - now let's see what Fewo delivers after months of work.
