SOL jumped 40% during last year's conference, and it's already up 9% today as this year's conference kicks off. And for a good reason - major updates are coming out by the hour.
What Happened?
Several major updates have poured in from leading protocols at Solana Breakpoint.
A few notable headlines:
Firedancer goes live on testnet, frankendancer on mainnet with 20x+ performance increase
Jupiter Mobile integrates Apple Pay, Google Pay and credit card onboarding
Helio Pay allows Shopify merchants to sell products on X via Blinks
Phantom introduces embedded wallets for easier onboarding
$1.3T asset manager Franklin Templeton announces plans to launch a mutual fund on Solana
Just an incredible start to the conference, across infra, protocols, wallets and fund managers.
Why It Matters
Solana has gotten a bit of a reputation as "the memecoin chain" during 2024, but it's clearly much more than that.
With the Firedancer implementation, Solana's performance will level up and its lead over other major L1s in speed and usability will increase.
Jupiter Mobile and Phantom are clearly focused on mass onboarding and making their products easier to use and more accessible.
Helio is helping merchants across the world use Solana tech for eCommerce and selling directly on social media sites like X via Blinks.
And Franklin Templeton is showing how big money can find a place on Solana.
If this was the full suite of updates from the entire conference, I'd probably call it a win.
But we're just in the first day.
